ACADEMY TRAINER  CERTIFICATION/DECERTIFICATION

A. Local correction Officer Academy Trainer Certification/Decertification

1.  The Council may grant certification to a sponsored academy trainer who meets the
    standards set by the Council.

2.  Sponsoring agency shall request certification of its trainers by the Council.

3.  Certification granted to an academy trainer by the Council is valid until either of the
    following occurs:

a. Trainer has been inactive in excess of three years.

b.  Council determines to remove for cause.

c.  Sponsoring agency requests a removal.

d.  Conviction by a judge or jury of a felony.

e.  Conviction by a plea of guilty to a felony.

f.  Conviction by a plea of no contest to a felony.

g.  Making a materially false statement or committing fraud during the
    application for academy trainer certification.

B. Procedures for Decertification; Review

1.  Agency requests for revocation of certification or removal of academy trainer shall be
    accompanied by written justification for such action.

2.  The Council shall notify the trainer and sponsoring agency by certified mail of the
    revocation of certification or removal of academy trainer.

3.  In the advent of an adverse decision as to certification or revocation, the person may
    appeal directly to the Council in writing.
